Devices

The device list

Devices lists every device of the tenant, paged and sorted on the server, so it stays fast with tens of thousands of devices.

  • Search by hostname, display name, last user, IP address or serial number.
  • Filter by status, site, operating system, Active Directory OU, tags (all of), agent version, source (agent, AD only, both), and installed software ("has" or "does not have" a program, optionally with a version condition).
  • Sort by any sortable column, and choose which columns to show.
  • Save a filter under a name to reuse it. Saved filters are kept in your browser, per tenant.

The filter is part of the page address, so you can bookmark or share a filtered list.

Browse by organizational unit

With Active Directory sync, an OU tree sits beside the list, laid out like Active Directory Users and Computers:

  • The tree shows the domain, then its OUs and containers (such as the default Computers container). Each has the number of computers in it and in every OU below it.
  • Click an OU to list the devices in it and in every OU below it. The path (for example coding.local › _CODING › Computers › Students › SB1) is shown above the list, and the other filters still apply.
  • All devices removes the OU filter. Not in Active Directory lists devices that only have the agent (source Agent).
  • The branch holding most of the computers opens by default. Use the arrows (or the ← and → keys) to open and close branches. What you open is remembered in your browser.

To give the list the full width, hide the tree with the button in its header; Show OUs above the list brings it back. Your browser remembers the choice.

On small screens the tree is hidden; use Filters → Active Directory OU, which lists the same tree.

Status and source

StatusMeaning
OnlineThe agent is connected and sending heartbeats.
OfflineNo heartbeat for about 3 minutes.
Never connectedKnown from Active Directory; no agent has enrolled.
DecommissionedRemoved by an administrator (hidden from the list).
SourceMeaning
AgentOnly the agent knows this device.
ADFound in Active Directory; no agent installed.
BothAgent and AD object were matched.

Bulk actions

Select devices with the checkboxes, or select all matching the current filter (up to 5,000 devices), then choose an action:

  • Refresh inventory
  • Reboot (with delay and message)
  • Wake up (wake-on-LAN)
  • Uninstall software by program name
  • Add tag

Devices where an action does not apply are skipped, and the result says how many and why (for example no_agent, software_not_found, no_connector). Codes are listed in Error codes.

A device's page

The header shows status, last seen, OS, last user, site, tags and agent version, with the quick actions (Device actions).

TabWhat you see
OverviewSummary: OS, hardware, user, site, agent, AD details.
HardwareManufacturer, model, serial, CPU, memory, disks.
NetworkAdapters, IP and MAC addresses.

UpdatesInstalled Windows updates.
ServicesWindows services and their state.
UsersLocal user accounts.
Sign-insWho signed in to the device and when (see below).
MetricsCPU, memory and disk usage over time, and the CPU temperature (°C) when the device reports one (many virtual machines do not).
ActivityJobs sent to the device and their results.
DeploymentsThis device's deployment targets.
ScriptsScript runs on this device.

Sign-ins

The Sign-ins tab lists every Windows sign-in on the device, newest first: User (DOMAIN\name), Type (Console or Remote Desktop), Client (the Remote Desktop client's name or address), Signed in, Signed out and Duration. A sign-in that is still open shows Still signed in; a sign-out marked (estimated) happened while the agent was stopped or offline, so the time is when it noticed.

The agent checks the sessions every 10 seconds and reports changes at once. Locked and disconnected sessions still count as signed in. Sign-ins are kept for 7 days after the user signs out and then deleted; this period is fixed. Everyone who can see the device can see this tab.

How fresh is the data?

DataWhen it is sent
Heartbeat (CPU, memory, disks, logged-on user, pending reboot)Every 60 seconds
Full inventoryAt agent start and every 24 hours
Software, disks and services (delta)Every 4 hours
On requestRefresh inventory

Sections that have not changed since the last report are skipped by the server, so frequent refreshes are cheap. Metrics are kept for 90 days and inventory snapshots for 30 days by default (Retention).
