Alerts
Open alerts
Alerts lists open and acknowledged problems with their severity (info, warning, critical), subject (device, connector, deployment or AD configuration), message and age.
- Acknowledge tells colleagues someone is on it. The alert still resolves itself when the condition clears.
- Resolve closes it by hand.
Technicians and tenant admins can acknowledge and resolve. The server opens, updates and resolves alerts by itself every minute. Resolved alerts are kept for 180 days by default.
Alert rules
Alert rules (tenant admins) shows the global rules and your tenant's own rules.
| Rule type | Condition | Subject |
|---|---|---|
| Device offline | offline for at least minutes | device |
| Low disk space | free space below percent, optionally on one drive | device |
| High CPU | average CPU above percent over minutes | device |
| High memory | average memory above percent over minutes | device |
| CPU temperature | average CPU temperature above °C (30–120, default 90) over minutes (default 10); devices without a temperature sensor never alert. A global rule CPU temperature high (90 °C for 10 minutes, warning) is on by default. | device |
| Agent outdated | agent older than version (default: the newest stable release) | device |
| Deployment failed | failed and timed-out share of a deployment created in the last week above percent (default 20) | deployment |
| AD sync failing | the last sync of a configuration failed | AD configuration |
| Connector offline | connector offline for at least minutes | connector |
Each rule also has a name, a severity and an on/off switch. Saving a rule evaluates it at once.
Default global rules
Every installation starts with five global rules:
| Rule | Severity |
|---|---|
| Device offline for 60 minutes | warning |
| Disk free below 10 % | warning |
| Agent outdated | info |
| Connector offline for 15 minutes | critical |
| AD sync failing | warning |
Global rules are managed by global admins (Global library). A tenant can switch a global rule off for itself, and add its own rules.
Your notifications
Each user chooses their alert e-mails, for each tenant they belong to, under Tenant settings → My notifications. Global admins who are not members of a tenant get no e-mails for it. Teachers get no alert e-mails at all (and have no My notifications page).
| Section | Setting | Options |
|---|---|---|
| Delivery | Immediately (default), Digest or Off. Off disables the other sections. | |
| Digest frequency | Every 15 minutes (default), Hourly, or Daily at an hour (in your time zone). Only for Digest. | |
| Minimum severity | Info, Warning (default) or Critical. | |
| Offline devices | Group offline devices for | 5, 15 (default), 30 or 60 minutes. |
| Alert types | one checkbox per rule type | Checked types are e-mailed (all by default). |
| Resolved alerts | E-mail me when alerts resolve | Off by default. |
| Quiet hours | Enable quiet hours, From, To | No e-mail in that window (it can span midnight). |
| Send critical alerts anyway | On by default. | |
| Time zone | For the daily digest and quiet hours; empty = the tenant's time zone. |
Offline devices are grouped. Devices that go offline are never mailed one by one. They are collected for the chosen time, then one e-mail (3 devices went offline) lists the devices that went offline, the devices back online (with E-mail me when alerts resolve), and every device that is currently offline in the tenant, with a View offline devices button. With Digest, the same sections are part of the digest.
With Immediately, other new alerts arrive as they open; more than three in one pass arrive as one summary. With E-mail me when alerts resolve, resolutions are mailed the same way.
Quiet hours hold every e-mail (except critical alerts, unless you turn Send critical alerts anyway off) and send one Quiet hours summary when they end; nothing is lost or sent twice. A digest due during quiet hours goes out when they end.
